Nagpur Man Held for Waving Sword Near Temple, Causing Panic

Nagpur, India: A 24-year-old man was arrested by Kalamna Police after he was caught brandishing a sword in a public area near the Shitla Mata Temple in Vijay Nagar on Wednesday evening, causing panic among locals.

The youth, identified as Chandresh Baliram Verma, a resident of Rahul Gandhi Nagar in the Chikhli slum area, was seen waving a large iron sword and shouting loudly on the street around 7:30 PM. Passers-by quickly alerted the police patrol in the area.

Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the spot and took Verma into custody. They also seized the weapon, an old iron sword valued at approximately ₹1,000. Police stated that Verma’s actions posed a threat to public safety and disturbed peace in the neighbourhood.

He has been charged under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for unlawfully carrying a weapon and creating a public disturbance. Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine the motive behind his actions.
