Nagpur Municipal Corporation Introduces High-Tech Self-Cleaning e-Toilets
The Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) has recently introduced a pilot project consisting of 12 advanced e-Toilets in various locations across Nagpur City. As reported by a local English daily, these unmanned electronic toilets are equipped with sensor-based technology, offering self-cleaning capabilities and portability.
The primary objective of this initiative is to provide convenience and relief to the public, particularly in crowded areas. Developed by Eram Scientific Solutions, these e-Toilets feature separate units for men and women, incorporating a coin-operated flushing system and a self-cleaning mechanism that utilizes UV radiation. Waste management is efficiently handled through drainage connections, with the provision of biodigesters as an alternative solution.
In the upcoming months, the NSSCDCL plans to install an additional 100 e-Toilets in various locations, as per the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's identification. The responsibility for monitoring and maintaining these e-Toilets for a duration of six years lies with the company that developed them, with penalties imposed for inadequate maintenance. By prioritizing sanitation and addressing restroom availability and maintenance concerns, this project aims to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Nagpur.
