Nagpur Police Arrested Youth Who Stole Bikes for Romantic Joyrides

In a recent success for the Nagpur Crime Branch, they apprehended a 21-year-old individual, Ajay Sarwan, who was discovered to be the mastermind behind a series of bike thefts within the city. However, what sets this case apart is the peculiar motivation behind these crimes. Sarwan's primary reason for these thefts was his desire to enjoy rides with his girlfriend and to have funds available for their romantic outings.
During this operation, Ajay Sarwan, along with his accomplices, Sajik, also known as Sajid Kalmani (23), and Aman Paraye (19), were all arrested. The gang's illicit activities came to the authorities' attention a few months ago after an incident in which Sarwan and Paraye were returning from a visit to Sarwan's girlfriend in Kuhi. It was during their journey back from Kuhi that they decided to steal two motorcycles.
The investigation was carried out by the Nagpur Crime Branch, led by Senior PI Baburao Raut and Assistant PI Gajanan Chambhare. The team successfully located and recovered the stolen motorcycles. Aman Paraye, who was employed at a medical student hostel in Sakkardara, initially formed a connection with Sajid Kalmani, a tiffin delivery person, and together they initiated their spree of motorcycle thefts, even targeting bikes parked in hospital lots.
The gang predominantly operated in the southern part of Nagpur, targeting motorcycles from a specific manufacturer known for its easily compromised handle locks. Additionally, they possessed the knowledge and skills to manipulate the motorcycles' ignition systems by altering the electrical connections, making it easier for them to steal the vehicles.
Aman Paraye, originally from Madhya Pradesh, was the first member of the gang to be arrested. During interrogation, he provided crucial information that eventually led to the apprehension of the other two members, including Ajay Sarwan. As a result of their diligent efforts, the police were able to recover four stolen motorcycles, including one from Beltarodi and another from Yashodhara Nagar.
