Nagpur Police Bust Drug Racket, Seize ₹3.97 Lakh Worth of Ganja

Nagpur, India: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Police arrested four individuals near the southern gate of Nagpur Railway Station and seized 17.54 kilograms of ganja. The drugs are estimated to be worth ₹3.97 lakh in the illegal market.

The operation was carried out during a late-night patrol on 20 May, extending into the early hours of 21 May. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the suspects near Gate No. 1 of the railway station, under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi Police Station.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Bishwanath Chaturbhuj Sahu (25) from Subarnapur district, Odisha

  • Simadri Gariba Kalsaye (23) from Balangir district, Odisha

  • Vishwajeet Vinod Chaudhary (23) from Panvel, Navi Mumbai

  • Suraj Mehilal Navik (25) from Kalamboli, Raigad district

Along with the narcotics, police also recovered three mobile phones and ₹1,700 in cash from the accused. All four have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act (Sections 8(c), 20(b), and 29) as per Crime No. 412/2025 registered at Sitabuldi Police Station.

The anti-drug operation was led by Police Inspector Omprakash Sontakke, supported by a team of constables and officers from the SSB unit. Authorities are now investigating the source of the drugs and whether the accused have links to a larger interstate smuggling network.
