Nagpur Police Solve 10 Burglaries and Arrested a Skilled Thief

Nagpur police have successfully solved 10 burglaries by Arresting a seasoned thief in a major breakthrough. The Crime Branch's Unit-01 cracked a series of house breakings reported in the Sonegaon, Rana Pratap Nagar, and Ajni areas, leading to the arrest of the master burglar.
Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar commended the entire Unit-01 team for their victory and announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000. The police recovered stolen items, including gold and silver ornaments, foreign currency, cash, a motorcycle, a moped, and other valuables, with a combined worth exceeding Rs 44.61 lakh. Additionally, a moped and a cell phone utilized in the commission of the burglaries were seized.
The suspect, identified as Amol Mahadeo Raut (34) and residing in Butibori, was linked to six house-breaking thefts in Sonegaon, three in Rana Pratap Nagar, and one in Ajni. Raut, who concealed his identity by wearing a full-face helmet, targeted houses with CCTV cameras, taking away digital video recorders during his escape.
The Unit-01 Crime Branch team, led by PI Suhas Choudhary, API Rajendra Gupta, API Praveen Mahamuni, and others, investigated the cases by analyzing CCTV footage at the City Operation Centre. Through careful examination, they identified Amol Raut based on the registration number of his moped.
With a history of criminal activities, Raut was taken into custody after the team set a trap. The subsequent search led to the recovery of stolen gold ornaments (65 tolas) valued at Rs 34.65 lakh, silver ornaments (63 tolas) worth Rs 59,950, Rs 6.92 lakh in cash, 280 US dollars, a wristwatch worth Rs 5,000, a cellphone valued at Rs 20,000, two stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 1.20 lakh, and a moped worth Rs one lakh.
The successful arrest and retrieval of stolen items were executed under the supervision of CP Kumar, Jt CP Aswati Dorje, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, and DCP (Detection) Mummaka Sudarshan.
