Nagpur, India: A suspected kidnapping case near the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border turned out to be a domestic dispute, thanks to the swift and efficient response of the Nagpur Rural Police, who resolved the matter within a few hours.
The incident was reported on Tuesday evening when a man from Bhandara approached the police claiming his brother had been kidnapped near the inter-state border. He alleged that a group of unidentified persons forcibly took his brother away in a car, prompting fears of a serious crime.
Acting on the complaint, Nagpur Rural Police, along with Bhandara Police, launched a coordinated investigation. Alert messages were issued across nearby police stations and border checkpoints to trace the vehicle and the alleged abductors.
However, during the course of the investigation, police located the missing man and uncovered the truth — there had been no kidnapping. The man had voluntarily gone with his in-laws after a domestic disagreement with his wife. Miscommunication between family members led the brother to believe he had been abducted, resulting in the police complaint.
Authorities confirmed that the situation was a result of a personal matter and did not involve any criminal activity. No charges were filed, and both families were counselled to avoid further misunderstandings.
The police have urged the public to communicate clearly in family matters and avoid making premature conclusions. They also thanked the citizens for their alertness and praised the prompt inter-district cooperation that helped resolve the case quickly and peacefully.
