Nagpur to Dive into Development with New Public Swimming Pool at Bidipeth

Nagpur, India: The city of Nagpur is set to welcome a much-needed public amenity as the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) gears up to construct a modern public swimming pool in the Bidipeth area of Mahalaxmi Nagar. With a budget of ₹3.8 crore, the project will be developed on an open plot covering khasra numbers 17, 60 and 61.

This will be NIT’s second public swimming facility after the popular Ambazari pool located on South Ambazari Road. Currently, Nagpur has very few public swimming pools – the prominent ones being at Kamgar Kalyan, Ambazari, and the Super Speciality Hospital. Most other pools in the city are run by private clubs, hotels, or specific institutions for limited use.

The upcoming pool in Bidipeth is designed to be easily accessible via a 9-metre wide road. It promises a thoughtful blend of form and function, catering to both casual swimmers and those with more advanced skills.

The facility will include all the essentials such as changing rooms, lockers, restrooms, shower areas, and a separate filtration plant room. Special emphasis is being placed on sustainability and user comfort – the construction will make use of eco-friendly fly ash bricks, mirror-polished granite counters, and durable PVC doors to ensure long-term usability with minimal maintenance.

The project, which reflects a community-focused approach, is expected to be completed within 10 months. Once operational, it is likely to become a popular destination for residents looking to cool off, stay fit, or learn swimming in a clean and modern environment.
