Nagpur to Receive Heavy Rainfall from June 17 to 21 Amid Ongoing Heat

Nagpur, India: The city is likely to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds from June 17 to 21, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). A yellow alert has been issued for the Vidarbha region, including Nagpur, from June 16 to 19.

Despite the ongoing heatwave causing discomfort across the city, weather experts say rain-bearing clouds are expected to become active over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and parts of Odisha within the next 24 hours. However, some citizens remain doubtful, as earlier forecasts from the RMC did not bring the predicted rain.

According to the latest weather update, conditions are now favourable for the further advancement of the southwest monsoon into parts of Gujarat, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha in the next 48 hours. The monsoon is also likely to move into areas of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh over the next three days.

An upper air cyclonic circulation, which was previously situated over Maharashtra, has now shifted towards south-central Maharashtra and surrounding regions. This change has already triggered rainfall in several parts of the state.

With the forecast pointing to incoming showers, Nagpur residents are hoping for relief from the oppressive heat and a timely start to the monsoon season.
