Nagpur’s RTO Flyover Nears Completion, Final Deadline Set for June 2025

Nagpur, India: The much-delayed RTO flyover on Amravati Road is finally in its last phase of construction, with authorities setting a revised deadline for completion by the end of June 2025.

Originally launched in May 2021 under the Amravati Road Traffic Improvement Project (ARTIP), the ₹245 crore flyover has faced repeated delays due to challenges like land acquisition and environmental clearances. Spanning 2.85 kilometres, the flyover stretches from the University Campus Square to just before Bhole Petrol Pump Square, aiming to ease traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas.

Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) have confirmed that the final slab at Ravi Nagar Square will soon be laid using Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC), a specialised Malaysian technology. Following this, the construction of a retaining wall near the RTO will begin after replacing an old 50-year-old bridge in the area.

Although the initial deadline was set for February 2025, the new target is to complete the main flyover by 31 May, with remaining work such as road laying and footpath construction expected to continue through July.

Once opened, the flyover is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time, streamline traffic flow, and enhance road safety along Amravati Road, benefitting thousands of daily commuters.
