New Gondia-Tirupati Flight Service by IndiGo from December 1
Gondia is set to rejoin the nation's airmap as IndiGo Airlines plans to commence daily flights from Gondia to Tirupati via Hyderabad, starting December 1. Unlike the 'Udega Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN)' scheme, where the Central government subsidizes airlines, IndiGo's new flight will operate on a purely commercial basis.
Two years ago, Fly Big Airlines had initiated a flight connecting Indore, Hyderabad, and Gondia. However, the service was abruptly halted in August, despite having a 70% occupancy rate, as reported by the Gondia airport director's office. Since then, the airport has remained inactive.
The IndiGo flight schedule includes departures from Tirupati at 8.40 am, reaching Hyderabad at 9.50 am, and departing from Hyderabad at 10.20 am, arriving in Gondia at 12.35 pm. The return flight from Gondia takes off at 12.55 pm, arrives in Hyderabad at 2.55 pm, and leaves Hyderabad at 3.25 pm, arriving in Tirupati at 4.50 pm.
Initially, the base fare for the Gondia-Hyderabad route and vice versa, according to the IndiGo website, will be approximately 23,000 INR.
