Police Intercept ₹60 Lakh in Unaccounted Cash on Bhopal-Raipur Route

Nagpur, India: In a major cash seizure, Nagpur Rural Police recovered ₹60 lakh in unaccounted money from a car carrying four intoxicated youths travelling from Bhopal to Raipur. The incident occurred on the Patansawangi Highway late on Wednesday evening.
Acting on a specific tip-off, Assistant Police Inspector Suhasini Sahastrabuddhe and her team intercepted the vehicle and conducted a thorough search. The large amount of cash was found hidden inside the vehicle, raising immediate suspicion.
All four occupants were reportedly in an inebriated state when stopped by the police. They were taken into custody for questioning and are now being investigated for the source and purpose of the cash they were carrying.
Police suspect the money could be linked to illegal activities, possibly for undisclosed business or political transactions. The income tax department and other relevant agencies have been informed and may join the probe.
Officials have not yet confirmed the identities of those involved but have assured a detailed inquiry into the matter. Further investigation is ongoing to trace the origins of the money and determine whether more individuals are involved.
The seizure has raised concerns about the movement of large sums of unaccounted money across state borders, especially ahead of potential election activity or financial transactions.
