Stolen Bikes Worth ₹19.45 Lakh Recovered in Nagpur, Two Arrested

Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 1 has busted an inter-state motorcycle theft racket between Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Two individuals were arrested, and 31 stolen bikes worth ₹19.45 lakh were recovered.
The operation began after Ramesh Ingle, a 59-year-old resident of Nagpur, filed a complaint on May 12, reporting his motorcycle stolen near Rathi Hospital in Wadi. Acting on the complaint, police teams used technical surveillance and local intelligence to track down the suspects.
The primary accused, Rahul Thakre (43), a resident of Minimata Nagar, Kalamna, was found to be the mastermind. He had been stealing bikes from different parts of Nagpur and handing them over to his brother, Dinesh Thakre (37), who lives in Satner village in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh.
Police first arrested Dinesh and recovered two stolen bikes from his home. During interrogation, he confessed to receiving and selling 17 bikes sent by Rahul, primarily to farmers and labourers in rural MP. Following this, Rahul was also taken into custody, and 14 more bikes were seized from various locations in Nagpur.
According to police, the stolen bikes were taken from areas across Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Amravati, and even Betul. The accused targeted parked motorcycles and sold them at low prices in neighbouring states.
Both suspects are now in police custody, and further investigations are underway to identify any additional members of the gang and recover more stolen vehicles.
This successful operation adds to a recent series of theft busts in the city and highlights the importance of prompt complaints and coordination between state forces. Residents are advised to take precautions and report thefts or suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
