Strict Police Campaign to Ensure Drug-Free City

In a determined effort to implement the Drug-Free City initiative, the police have initiated a campaign targeting pubs, lounges, clubs, and hotels in violation of drug-related restrictions. Strict actions, including filing cases and license cancellations, await those facilitating the sale or consumption of narcotics, as announced by Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal. All police stations have been instructed to closely monitor pubs and lounges within their jurisdictions. The comprehensive campaign, led by Commissioner Dr. Singal, has prompted reactions from pub and club operators who are under scrutiny for potential violations. Dr. Ravinder Singal acknowledged previous complaints about drug sales and usage in certain city establishments, especially those operating beyond permitted hours. The campaign aims to break the nexus that previously shielded such activities, involving the local police and the Crime Branch. The ready availability of narcotics has turned pubs and lounges into hubs for criminal activities, as exemplified by recent incidents like Agent Jack in VR Mall and a fatal attack in Warehouse Pub. Imamwada Police and other stations are directed to actively participate in the stringent campaign against such incidents. Commissioner Dr. Ravindra emphasized surprise checks and stern punishments for rule violations. Pubs and bars allowing drug use will face special supervision and will not be allowed to operate beyond specified hours. Dr. Ravindra warned that both local police and the Crime Branch would be held accountable if undesirable activities persist, emphasizing the legal consequences for operators and bouncers who fail to report crimes.
