Traffic Chaos Persists in Nagpur's Manish Nagar Underpass Despite Authorities' Efforts
Manish Nagar underpass in Nagpur is facing a range of difficulties from constant traffic. Despite the underpass being designated as a one-way route, reports indicate that vehicles are travelling from both directions, leading to an increase in accidents and safety concerns.
In recent times, a conversation was initiated with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Chetna Tidke to gain insights into the challenges faced and the strategies employed by authorities to tackle the situation. DCP Chetna Tidke elucidated the steps being taken by the authorities to lessen the ongoing issues.
The Nagpur Traffic Department has launched a crackdown on motorists who violate the one-way regulation, imposing fines on those found to be in violation. To ensure compliance, dedicated traffic police personnel have been deployed at the underpass. The DCP emphasized their dedication to closely monitoring traffic violators and upholding order on the roadway.
Nevertheless, amidst these endeavours, concerns have arisen regarding certain motorists ignoring traffic signals, partially attributed to the perceived absence of traffic police at the Manish Nagar underpass. Incidents of vehicles proceeding in the opposite direction have reportedly surged. Additionally, auto-rickshaw drivers have been observed stopping their vehicles in the middle of the road to pick up passengers, causing disruptions in traffic flow. Similarly, private bus operators have been found flouting regulations, impeding the road while loading and unloading passengers.
The prevailing non-adherence to traffic regulations, even in the presence of police, raises inquiries about the effectiveness of the measures taken to ensure road safety.
