Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Advocates Establishing a Skill University in Nagpur District
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, has underlined the necessity of creating a skill-based university in Nagpur district. He has urged the state government to take the initiative in establishing such a university within the district. Gadkari emphasized the need to rebrand Nagpur as not only an IT, health, and aviation hub but also as a skill development hub for the region.
Nitin Gadkari made these remarks during an event commemorating Vishwakarma Jayanti, held at the Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in Civil Lines, Nagpur. The primary program was broadcast live from New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Prime Minister's Vishwakarma Scheme at the newly constructed Yashobhoomi Auditorium in Dwarka.
The event in Nagpur witnessed the participation of prominent dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, MLA Krishna Khopde, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, MSME Director Prashant Parlewar, and WCL Managing Director Manoj Kumar, alongside Nitin Gadkari.
Gadkari acknowledged the significance of traditional community professionals, locally known as 'bara balutedars,' who play a pivotal role in the rural Indian economy. These vocations have historically contributed to sustaining the country's economy. Devendra Fadnavis added that 18 different businesses have been selected under the Prime Minister's Vishwakarma Yojana. The initiative aims to promote trade by providing various facilities such as skill training toolkits and loans up to 3 lakh.
Nitin Gadkari's vision for Nagpur includes transforming it into a prominent skill development hub alongside its existing status as an IT, health, and aviation hub. He stressed the importance of skill development as a means to boost regional growth and employment opportunities.
