Violent Encounter Unfolds as Sand Mafia Targets Revenue Officer

A woman official narrowly escaped an attempt on her life by the sand mafia when the driver of a truck, loaded with illegally mined sand, tried to run her over. The incident occurred near Ghotitok village along the Mansar Tumsar national highway in Nagpur district. The official, Vandana Savrangpatte, and her colleagues from the revenue department had seized eight illegally loaded sand trucks during a routine check.

As the officials attempted to stop another speeding truck, its driver made a desperate attempt to flee and targeted SDO Savrangpatte. Fortunately, she narrowly avoided the attack. Undeterred, the officials pursued the truck, only to face further obstacles when a Nano car blocked their path. The occupants of the car even launched an attack on the revenue staff with a hammer and iron rods.

In response to this violent encounter, the Ramtek police have registered a case under sections 307 and 353 of the IPC. The incident highlights the dangers faced by officials combating illegal sand mining activities in the region.
