Woman Scammed Online, Loses Rs 9.81 Lakh : FIR Filed

Nagpur: In a heartbreaking instance of cybercrime, a lady lost a massive sum of Rs 9.81 lakh to cybercriminals. The incident lead to the Hudkeshwar Police Station opening a case.

In August, a person by the name of Roza called the 33-year-old victim, who lived in Ghogli, Besa Road, via mobile number 9168352002. The victim agreed to take a lucrative part-time work offer from Roza. She was then given different online assignments, which she dutifully finished between August 17, 2023, and August 22, 2023. She was told, to give her more confidence, that she had made a substantial profit from these assignments.

But when she got drawn into share trading with the prospect of huge gains, things took a terrible turn. She was convinced to transfer Rs 9.81 lakh to other accounts after being given guarantees. Unfortunately, the cybercriminals quickly taken the full sum as soon as the transfers were completed.

Following the filing of a complaint, the police carried out a comprehensive investigation and filed a First Information Report (FIR) in accordance with Sections 420 and 66(d) of the Indian Penal Code. To find the culprits and provide the victim with justice, an inquiry has been launched.
