Woman's Father Loses Savings Totaling Rs 10.63 Lakh to Cyber Criminals

A 23-year-old woman, Harsha Samudrawar, residing in Shuba Lakshmi Nagar and pursuing a B.Sc., fell victim to a task fraud orchestrated by cyber criminals, losing her father's retirement savings of Rs 10.63 lakhs. Her father, a retired class IV employee, had received the amount in his bank account two years ago.

Between September 27 and November 24, Harsha received a message at home on her mobile, adding her to the Daily Working VI group via the Telegram ID of Kreesha 8332. The cybercriminal assigned tasks to Harsha, initially sending money to her account with the promise of profits upon completion. Gaining her trust, the criminal continued assigning various tasks and sending money. Eventually, Harsha was enticed with the prospect of higher investment returns.

Subsequently, Harsha invested the entire sum of 10.63 lakhs with the messenger. However, the criminal ceased payments, making Harsha realize she had been deceived. She promptly complained to the MIDC police station. Despite the frequent reports of task fraud, citizens remain susceptible to the schemes orchestrated by cybercriminals.
