Yellow Alert for Nagpur as IMD Predicts Thunderstorms Across Vidarbha

Nagpur, India: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Vidarbha, including Nagpur, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next few days. The warning comes as temperatures have started rising again across the region.
After a short period of relief, Nagpur recorded a daytime high of 41°C on Wednesday. On Thursday, the city experienced hazy weather, with the temperature hovering around 37°C during the day and expected to dip to 28°C at night. The IMD has forecast a further rise, with maximum temperatures likely to reach 38°C on Friday and 39°C on Saturday.
According to the IMD, parts of Vidarbha may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h. Light rainfall is also expected in isolated areas, which could bring momentary relief from the heat.
The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions, including staying indoors during thunderstorms, avoiding shelter under trees, and keeping away from electrical poles and loose objects that could be affected by strong winds.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay updated with official weather alerts and follow safety guidelines, especially in rural and semi-urban areas more vulnerable to storm-related disruptions. The IMD will continue to monitor the weather and provide timely updates.
