Nagpur, India: A 12-year-old girl from Nagpur sustained critical injuries after a zipline cable reportedly snapped mid-air during an adventure ride in Manali on 8 June. The incident occurred near the Beas River, where she fell from a height of nearly 30 feet onto rocky terrain.
The girl was immediately rushed to a local hospital with multiple injuries. She received treatment for nearly a week before being discharged on the evening of 14 June. Doctors confirmed she was in a serious condition but is now recovering at home.
The victim’s family has alleged gross negligence on the part of the zipline operators. They claim that there was a complete lack of safety checks and oversight, which led to the accident. They are demanding a thorough investigation and accountability from the organisers and local authorities.
Tourists and locals have also raised concerns about the safety of adventure sports in the region, urging stricter regulations to avoid similar incidents. Authorities in Manali have promised to look into the matter and inspect the safety measures in place at adventure activity sites.
The shocking incident has cast a spotlight on the urgent need for better safety protocols at tourist destinations, especially for activities involving children.
