Tragic Drowning at Nagpur's NIT Swimming Pool Raises Safety Concerns

Nagpur , India - In a devastating incident at the Ambazari swimming pool managed by the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), a 36-year-old lecturer, Kunal Kishor Salpekar, tragically lost his life due to drowning on Tuesday night.

Kunal, who worked as a lecturer at NIT, was known to be a regular at the pool, often seen practicing his swimming every evening around 8 PM. On the night of the incident, he was reportedly using a rope to descend into the water. Lifeguards, who initially did not sense any distress, later noticed Kunal was unresponsive at the bottom of the pool. Despite immediate rescue efforts, it was tragically too late. Emergency medical technicians declared him dead upon arrival.

The case has since been reported to the Bajajnagar Police Station and recorded as an accidental death. This incident has sparked significant concern over the safety protocols at the NIT swimming facility. Despite the presence of lifeguards, the fact that such a tragedy could occur has led many to question the effectiveness of the current safety measures.

With summer approaching, the pool has been increasingly crowded with swimmers of all ages eager to beat the heat. This recent tragedy underscores the urgent need for a thorough review and enhancement of safety practices at the facility.

The NIT administration is now facing scrutiny, with the public and authorities alike calling for an in-depth investigation into the pool's safety protocols to prevent any future accidents.
