31 Black Magic-Related Cases Reported in Nagpur Over 5 Years

Nagpur, India: Shocking cases related to witchcraft and black magic continue to come to light. Over the past five years, 31 such cases have been registered in the city under Maharashtra’s anti-superstition law.

The law, officially called the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, was passed to stop harmful superstitions. It came into effect after the killing of social activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar, who worked against blind faith.

Despite the law, not one of the 31 cases reported in Nagpur in the last five years has been fully solved. Many investigations are still going on, and some have not moved forward.

These cases include fake godmen cheating people by promising to solve personal problems like infertility or bad luck. In some incidents, girls were harmed during fake rituals said to cure them. People were also tricked into giving large sums of money in the name of removing black magic.

Officials say more awareness is needed to stop such incidents. While the city is improving its roads, technology, and public services, it also needs to improve education and understanding to fight against such dangerous beliefs.

The police and social organisations are working together to spread awareness and ensure action is taken against those who cheat or harm people in the name of superstition.
