Back-to-Back Fires Hit Nagpur; Homes and Property Damaged

Nagpur, India: Two separate fire incidents rocked Nagpur on Saturday, causing significant property damage and alarming residents in affected areas.

The first fire broke out around 5 PM at a two-storey house in Anguli Mal Nagar near Patankar Chowk. The blaze began on the first floor, damaging major household items including two cupboards, an air conditioner, a washing machine, electrical wiring, official documents, and ₹5,000 in cash. Firefighters from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, led by Sub Officer Ravindra Trivedi, responded quickly and managed to stop the fire from spreading beyond the first floor. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Earlier that day, a major fire erupted at a scrap godown in Imamwada. The flames spread rapidly, gutting six nearby houses and causing estimated losses of nearly ₹66.80 lakh. Firefighters battled the blaze for over 10 hours before it was brought under control. No casualties were reported, but several families were affected by the destruction of their homes and belongings.

Both incidents highlight the growing risk of fire during the summer season. Authorities have urged citizens to take extra precautions, especially around electrical appliances and flammable materials. Investigations into the causes of both fires are ongoing.
