Nagpur, India: Bajaj Nagar Police have recovered a 0.22 bore pistol from a city resident whose arms licence had not been renewed for the past 20 years. The discovery was made during a routine inspection in the locality.
The weapon, which falls under the Non-Prohibited Bore (NPB) category, was legally owned but the licence had lapsed in 2005. Despite several notices issued in the past for renewal, the owner failed to act, prompting the police to take legal action.
Police officials have registered a case under the Arms Act against the individual. The pistol has been seized and sent for forensic testing to rule out any possible misuse over the years.
Bajaj Nagar police have urged all gun owners in the city to check and renew their licences to avoid strict legal consequences. Investigations are ongoing.
