Nagpur Nightlife Under Scrutiny After Woman’s Drunken Incident at Shankar Nagar

Nagpur, India: A late-night incident involving an intoxicated woman near Shankar Nagar Square has raised serious questions about safety and behaviour in Nagpur’s growing nightlife scene.

The woman, reportedly 48 years old and a resident under Ajni Police Station limits, was found creating a public disturbance outside a coffee shop near Shankar Nagar around midnight on Sunday. Eyewitnesses said she was shouting loudly and misbehaving with people nearby.

When a patrolling police team arrived at the scene, the woman allegedly began abusing the officers and refused to calm down. She was taken to a medical facility where it was confirmed that she had consumed alcohol. It was later found that she had been to a nightclub earlier in the evening, where she reportedly drank excessively and caused trouble.

The Ambazari police registered a case against her under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for creating a public nuisance and obstructing police work. She was later released with a notice.

This incident reminds us of the Ritika Maloo Ram Jhula Accident case; reckless driving under the influence of alcohol has become a trend in Nagpur. Women speaking about empowerment are now equally contributing to such incidents.

This incident has sparked concern among residents and city authorities about the challenges of managing public behaviour in nightlife hotspots. Many are calling for stricter checks and better patrolling in busy areas to ensure the safety of citizens during late hours.

Apparently, authorities on duty are not to blame here, the public nuisance is an outcome of people who are under the influence of filthy-ness.
