Nagpur on Alert: 8 New COVID Cases Detected, NMC Heightens Vigilance

Nagpur: The city encountered 8 new COVID cases on Thursday, pushing the total count to 20 for the month. Presently, 11 patients are active, while 5 individuals are undergoing treatment in various private hospitals.
The emergence of the new 'JN.1' variant has prompted a health alert. The Municipal Corporation has sent 10 samples for 'Genome Sequencing,' eagerly awaiting the results. Currently, there are no reported cases of the new variant in Nagpur. However, the growing number of COVID patients is causing heightened concern.
Among the 8 patients identified on Thursday, there are individuals aged 78, 53, 51, and 40 years for men, and 66, 45, 30, and 20 years for women. Currently, there are 3 active cases each in the Laxminagar, Dharampeth, and Hanuman Nagar zones, with 1 active case each in Nehrunagar and Dhantoli zones. Out of these, 5 patients are admitted to a private hospital.
