Nagpur, India: In response to a recent uptick in COVID-19 cases, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has appealed to the public to remain calm while staying alert and cautious. The civic body has emphasised the need to follow basic health guidelines to help curb the spread of infection.
The NMC has advised citizens experiencing flu-like symptoms—particularly a fever above 38°C accompanied by a sore throat—to immediately seek medical advice. If symptoms continue for more than 48 hours, a COVID-19 test is strongly recommended.
According to official data, Nagpur has reported seven COVID-19 cases in May so far. Five of the affected individuals have already recovered, while two are currently under home isolation. No hospital admissions have been reported in relation to these cases.
COVID-19 testing is presently available at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). The NMC stated that more testing centres will be opened if required, in line with state government instructions.
Residents are urged to continue practising safety measures such as wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining social distance, and washing hands regularly. While there is no immediate cause for alarm, the NMC stressed that vigilance and public cooperation are key to preventing a larger outbreak.
Citizens can stay informed through official NMC updates and are encouraged not to panic, but to act responsibly and prioritise health and hygiene.
