Nagpur: Wife and Supporter of Pedophile Psychologist Arrested

Nagpur, India: In a major breakthrough in a high-profile sexual abuse case, Nagpur police have arrested Mrunal Vijay Ghaywat, wife of self-proclaimed psychologist Vijay Prabhakar Ghaywat, along with her aide Pallavi Kishor Belkhode. The duo had been on the run for over six months before being apprehended on 28 May 2025 by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar and supervised by Assistant Commissioner Narendra Hiware.

The arrests are linked to ongoing investigations into Vijay Ghaywat, who allegedly operated the Manovikas Mind Development Center in Manewada, Nagpur. He is accused of exploiting and blackmailing multiple minor girls under the pretense of providing therapeutic treatment for mental health and concentration issues.

The case first surfaced in 2014 when a female victim reported to Hudkeshwar Police Station that Ghaywat had molested and exploited her during therapy sessions. She claimed she was intoxicated at the time and coerced into physical relations, with Ghaywat recording obscene photos and videos to blackmail her. Further investigations led to the seizure of Ghaywat’s mobile phone, containing objectionable content involving other minors, suspected to be former students at his center. As more victims came forward, three additional FIRs were registered.

Mrunal Ghaywat and Pallavi Belkhode face charges of aiding and facilitating these crimes. Their arrest in Wathoda marks a significant development in the case. Both have been remanded to police custody until 31 May 2025.

In response to the case’s seriousness, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singhal has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to coordinate the multiple FIRs and ensure a swift, thorough inquiry. Authorities continue to urge other potential victims to come forward, promising full support and confidentiality.
