Nagpur Woman Safely Brought Back After Unauthorised Entry into Pakistan

Nagpur, India: A 43-year-old woman from Nagpur, who had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan earlier this month, has been safely repatriated to India. The woman, Sunita Jamgade, was handed over to Indian authorities by Pakistani officials at the Attari-Wagah border on Saturday.

Sunita had reportedly crossed into Pakistan from Hunderman village in Kargil, Ladakh, under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind her 12-year-old son in Nagpur. She was apprehended by Pakistani forces shortly after entering their territory and remained in custody until arrangements were made for her return.

Upon her arrival at the Indian border, she was received by the Border Security Force (BSF) and later handed over to Amritsar Police. A team from Nagpur, including a police officer and two women constables, was sent to Amritsar to bring her back to the city.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V), Niketan Kadam, a zero FIR has been registered in Amritsar and will be transferred to Kapil Nagar Police Station in Nagpur, where Jamgade resides.

Family sources have revealed that Sunita was undergoing treatment for mental health issues, which may have influenced her sudden and unexplained actions. Her son, who had been placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after her disappearance, is expected to be reunited with her soon.

Ladakh Police officials confirmed that the woman had been in contact with Pakistani individuals prior to crossing the border. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, raising broader questions about border security and mental health support.
