Texas Smoke Shop Busted in Nagpur for Selling Banned Tobacco Hookah

Nagpur, India: The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has intensified its crackdown on illegal tobacco use, raiding the Texas Smoke Shop near Sakkardara for selling banned hookah products. The operation was part of an ongoing campaign to enforce the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) across the city.

Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch Unit 4 raided the premises and seized a significant quantity of flavoured tobacco and hookah paraphernalia. The shop was allegedly offering tobacco-laced hookah services to customers in violation of public health and tobacco control laws.

According to police officials, the shop’s operator, identified as Adnan, has been booked and further investigations are underway. Authorities suspect similar activities may be taking place at other outlets in the city.

This raid follows a series of similar actions in recent months, with police targeting lounges and cafés operating illegally under the guise of serving herbal hookah. In many cases, lab tests have revealed the use of banned substances despite claims of tobacco-free products.

The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and strict adherence to COTPA regulations. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or establishments violating the law.
