Virat Kohli Signals End of Test Career After 14 Years, Says Goodbye Soon

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his intention to retire from Test cricket. The news comes just before India’s five-match Test series against England, which begins on 20 June.

Kohli, who made his Test debut in 2011, has played 123 matches and scored over 9,200 runs, including 30 centuries. Known for his aggressive style and leadership, he also captained the Indian Test team from 2014 to 2022, leading them to historic wins, including a memorable series victory in Australia.

However, in recent years, Kohli’s form in Test matches has dipped. Since 2020, his batting average has dropped to around 30, far below his earlier career average. Despite this, his contribution to Indian cricket remains unmatched.

The BCCI has reportedly asked Kohli to reconsider his decision, especially with other senior players like Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin stepping away from Test cricket. Kohli’s experience is seen as vital during this transition phase, with younger players like Shubman Gill expected to take on leadership roles.

If Kohli follows through with his decision, it would mark the end of a golden era for Indian Test cricket. An official statement from him is expected soon.
