Youth Caught with Loaded Pistol Near Futala Lake by Gittikhadan Police

Nagpur: A 23-year-old man was caught with a loaded country-made pistol near Futala Lake by Gittikhadan Police on Tuesday evening, June 3.

Around 6:30 PM, the police received a tip that a man in a red t-shirt was roaming near Sonu Pan Tapri, close to Futala Lake, and might be carrying a gun. The police team quickly reached the spot and found a man with a white moped who matched the description.

The youth was identified as Prajat Rajesh Panchariya, a resident of Soyog Nagar, Nari Road. When police searched his moped in front of witnesses, they found a country-made iron pistol, one magazine, and one live bullet hidden in the storage area.

The total value of the gun and bullets is about ₹25,300. Police believe that the accused may have planned to use the weapon for a serious crime and that he was also breaking existing safety rules.

A case has been registered under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act, and the youth has been arrested. Police are now investigating where the weapon came from and what the accused planned to do.

The action was taken under the guidance of senior officers DCP Rahul Madane, ACP Sunita Meshram, and PI Kailas Deshmane. The team included PSI Chetan Borkhede and constables Baljeet Thakur, Ajay Yadav, Vilas Chauhan, Nagnath Kokre, and Akash Lothe.

This is another strong step by Nagpur Police in their fight against illegal weapons in the city.
