Nagpur Metro's Trains and Coaches Colored with Spray Paint in Unknown Act of Vandalism
.png?1)
Graffiti artists (or vandals if you are in the receiving and) engaged in a night of doodling on an unprotected train carriage parked between the MIHAN Depot and Khapri Station. They used spray paint to create a colourful and artistic doodle, including the words "Drope Kenn," which is unclear in meaning, along with some other unclear markings on the driving can and two coaches. This seems to be their way of announcing their presence in town.
This act appears to be influenced by trends seen in Western countries, where creating spontaneous artwork on public property can signify protest or devolve into straightforward vandalism, spoiling the appearance of walls, buses, and subway trains. It seems that an individual or a group intentionally selected a vulnerable stretch of the metro line to showcase their creative work, of such practices.
Normally, these railway carriages are securely stored either at the Hingna Depot or the MIHAN Depot, where maintenance and cleaning operations are conducted. However, during the Tuesday and Wednesday nights in question, the railway carriage was situated in an isolated section of track between the MIHAN Depot and Khapri Station. This location lacks CCTV surveillance, with no presence of security. The Metro carriages had recently undergone a repaint, decorating them with dignified and pleasing colours featuring the G-20 Summit symbol and an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A formal complaint has been lodged with the Sonegaon Police against the unidentified individuals responsible for this act.
