India Strikes Back: Airstrikes Hit Sialkot and Lahore After Pakistan’s Drone Offensive

New Delhi, India: In a strong and swift response to Pakistan’s recent drone and missile offensive, India launched retaliatory airstrikes targeting key military infrastructure in Sialkot and Lahore. The strikes were carried out following Pakistani attacks on Indian military bases in Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot earlier this week.
The Indian Ministry of Defence confirmed that the operations were precise and aimed at disabling drone launch facilities and air defence systems used in the earlier assault. These actions form part of "Operation Sindoor", a series of military strikes launched after the 22 April terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists. India has blamed the attack on Pakistan-backed terrorist groups operating across the border.
Pakistan, in response, claimed to have shot down 25 Indian drones, including advanced Israeli-made HAROP models, over cities such as Lahore and Karachi. Pakistani officials also alleged that the Indian airstrikes led to the deaths of at least 31 civilians and have warned of a “strong counter-response”.
The sharp escalation has raised alarm across the international community. The United States and European Union have urged both nations to exercise restraint and engage in diplomatic talks to avoid further escalation.
With military tensions high and cross-border shelling intensifying, both countries have placed their armed forces on heightened alert. Regional peace now hangs in a delicate balance as global leaders call for calm and a return to the negotiating table.
