India Strikes Back After Pahalgam Terror Attack; U.S. Supports Move, Warns Pakistan

India has launched targeted airstrikes in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead and dozens injured. The operation, named Operation Sindoor, struck multiple terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, marking a bold retaliation against cross-border terrorism.

Defence sources confirmed that nine key terror sites were hit during the operation. The Indian government described the move as a "calibrated and strategic response" to the brutal assault in Pahalgam, which it blames on Pakistan-based terrorist groups.

In a major diplomatic development, the United States has publicly supported India's right to defend itself. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "India had the right to take action against terrorists," and also issued a firm message to Pakistan, urging it to avoid further escalation.

U.S. President Donald Trump also weighed in, expressing concern over rising tensions. “India and Pakistan have been at odds for a long time. I hope both sides will move towards peace,” he said.

Pakistan, however, has condemned the airstrikes as a violation of its sovereignty. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said his country would respond if necessary and accused India of provoking military conflict.

The international community, including the United Nations, China, and Russia, has called for calm and urged both nations to resolve their differences through dialogue.

As the region remains tense, with troops on high alert across the Line of Control, global observers are watching closely for any signs of further escalation.
