Nagpur Water Crisis: No Supply for Five Days in Besa, Manewada and Manish Nagar

Nagpur, India: Parts of South Nagpur, including Besa, Manewada, and Manishnagar, are facing a severe water crisis, with residents struggling without water supply for the past five days. The crisis has disrupted daily life, forcing people to rely on private tankers and borewells.

According to local reports, the disruption was caused by multiple issues, including a major leak in the newly installed Amrut feeder line and frequent power cuts at water pumping stations in Hudkeshwar and Besa. These technical faults have halted the supply of drinking water, leaving thousands of households in distress.

Local resident associations have raised concerns over the lack of action from Orange City Water (OCW) and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), demanding immediate resolution. “We are forced to buy tanker water every day. There is no accountability,” said a resident from Manishnagar.

Authorities have confirmed that maintenance teams have been deployed to repair the pipeline damage and address power supply issues. Meanwhile, the NMC has requested increased water release from the Pench reservoir to ease the shortfall in the Kanhan water supply system, which serves a large portion of Nagpur.

As the summer heat continues to peak, the lack of water has only worsened the situation. Civic bodies are under pressure to act swiftly and restore normal supply before the situation escalates further.
